BGB seizes smuggled goods worth Tk 121cr in Aug

Border Guard Bangladesh seizes smuggled goods in Bangladesh worth Tk.121 crore 41 lakh 74 000 during operations in border areas and other locations in August.

26,39,233 Yaba tablets, 10,174 Phensedyl bottles, 18,657 foreign liquor bottles, 1970 cans beer, 22.307 stimulant injections and 35,487 pieces Anegra and Senegra tablet pieces were seized. There were also 6724 bottles Eascof syrup, 1001 Mcadyl/coffidil syrup bottles, and 1,75,372 additional tablets.

Other items smuggled include 8.523 kgs of gold, 45 kilograms sterling, 3 touchstone sculptures, 3,674 imitation jewelry, 2,21,174 cosmetics products, 4,344 three-piece and shirt pieces, 9,143 three-piece and shirt pieces, 360 readymade garments pieces, 267 metres fabric, 2,504 cubes of timber, 2,080kgs of tea, 18,260kgs of coal. 17 trucks/covered vans, 7 pickups, 11 pickups. 68 CNG and motor driven auto-rickshaws.

Six pistols, twelve guns, two 40mm mortar blasts, three 60mm mortar balls, a magazine, and 28 bullets were among the weapons found.

A press release stated that legal action was also taken against 367 smugglers, 192 Bangladeshis, and 16 Indians who illegally crossed the border.
